You can play tournaments by clicking the "Tournaments" button in the lobby and navigating to your preferred game and type using the other tabs.
Select the tournament you wish to play by double-clicking on the title, and then click the "Register" button on the tournament details page to register to play.
1. Entry to a tournament may be by coupon or real money registration. If a tournament has both options and a player has a valid coupon for entry, the coupon will be used first. If a valid coupon is not found, real money will be deducted from the player balance for entry. You can not choose to use real money for entry if you have a valid entry coupon.
2. A player may deregister any time during the registration period before the start of a tournament. Some tournaments (usually satellites) may not have a deregister option. Deregistration will refund your account using the same means as registration. Coupon entry will be refunded a coupon. Real money entries will be refunded real money.
3. When the tournament you registered for commences, you will be notified then the table will open automatically. Seating and table position are assigned randomly. Seat changes are not permitted.
4. The dealer is assigned using a high card draw. If the same rank high card is dealt, the button will go the highest rank suit in this order: Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs.
5. Levels (blinds) increase at regular intervals through-out the tournament; this is noted on the tournament details screen by duration (in minutes). Click on the duration to see the full level structure of the tournament.
6. Posting blinds is compulsory and will be done automatically. Each player must pay a small and big blind per orbit. CarbonPoker has a dead button rule which is used to ensure fairness of the blind payment structure.
7. As players are eliminated from the tournament, the CarbonPoker software will automatically balance table numbers by randomly re-allocating players to another table. Players may be transferred in and out of tables throughout the duration of the tournament. This is a random function which player's may experience any number of times during a tournament. The balancing of tables is done randomly and, although rare, may result in a player having to post multiple big blinds in a row.
8. Once a player loses all his/her chips they are automatically removed from the seat unless a re-buy option is available. Once removed from the tournament, you have up to 2 minutes to chat and may continue to watch until the table is closed.
* If a re-buy is available, you will have the ability to purchase a new set of chips for a limited time before you are removed from the seat. Re-buys are generally the same value as an initial buy-in but do not attract another fee.
9. During multi-table tournaments there is a usually a 5 minute break after every 1 hour of play. These figures are variable and may change without notice on any tournament.
10. A bet and three raises are permitted in structured limit tournaments. There is no raise cap in pot-limit and no-limit tournaments.
11. During the tournament you will enter hand-for-hand mode. This means that if one table finishes a hand before any other table, then they must wait for the others to finish before the next hand will be dealt This mode prevents people from "slowing down the action" to eliminate other players in unpaid / lower paying positions. Hand For Hand Mode is used in all multi-table tournaments. The following chart is used to determine when Hand For Hand Mode will start and stop.

If two or more players are eliminated on the same hand, the player with more chips at the beginning of the hand will rank higher. If multiple players start the hands with exactly the same amount of chips, those players will tie for that rank. Any prizes owed to that rank will be equally distributed between the players eliminated on that hand.
During hand-for-hand mode, if two players are eliminated during a hand they are treated as being eliminated on the same hand, even if they are at different tables.
12. Disconnection protection is not available for single-table or multi-table tournaments. You will be folded (if facing action) if you lose connection and your blinds/antes will be paid until you return or are eliminated from the tournament.
13. A player may choose to sit out at any time during the tournament, however all blinds and antes will automatically be posted and the player will be dealt cards. Players will be folded if facing action or check if available.
14. The tournament ends when one player wins all of the chips in play.
15. If any tournament is cancelled during the registration period, all players will be refunded the buy-in and entry fee only.
16. If a tournament is shutdown or cancelled during play, any players who were eliminated prior to cancellation will not be refunded or share in the prize pool. Remaining players will be paid as per #17.
17. Tournament shutdown or cancellation refunds will be paid according to:
a. The amount of the buy-in, entry fee and any add-ons paid by the player.
b. Of the prize pool remaining after distribution according to (a), 50% will be distributed equally between all remaining players and 50% will be distributed on a percentage basis according to chip count at the time of cancellation.
18. As the result of a shutdown, prizes such as entry coupons or merchandise may not be awarded, in some instances the Tournament Director may elect to pay the value in cash.
19. If a tournament does not reach the minimum prize pool required to award coupon prizes, a fail over structure may award different prizes. In this instance, the prize pool will usually pay as cash as per the standard payout structure.
20. Tournament prizes are listed on the tournament details page. Most tournaments use the payout structure as per below. Some tournaments (special events / freerolls) may have a different structure. Please see the tournament details screen for the prize pool. CarbonPoker may change any payout structure at any time without notice.
21. This table shows the standard payouts for multi-table tournaments run at CarbonPoker. The right column shows the finishing place, while the column headers display the amount of entries (players) in the tournament. For example, if you finish in 9th place in a tournament with 250 people, you would be paid 2% of the total prize pool.
